El Gobierno sudanes ha desplegado 5.000 policias en Darfur para restaurar el control del Estado sobre la zona. El Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU aproba conceder un mes al Gobierno sudanes para controlar las milicias "yanyauid" y amenaza con imponer sanciones economicas a Sudan si no cumple el plazo. Las acciones de estos milicianos contra la poblacion negra local han provocado un millon de desplazados y han causado 50.000 muertos. A pesar de la mejoria de la situacion, las agencias internacionales de ayuda humanitaria han denunciado que los milicianos continuan con sus ataques contra la poblacion.

UN says abuses continue in Darfur

Sudanese government officials are still seeking to force displaced villagers in the Darfur region to return to their homes, United Nations aid workers say.
More than a million people have fled their homes in war-torn Darfur amid violence by progovernment Arab militia against black African villagers. Sudan has promised to double its security forces in Darfur as an outside peacekeeping force takes shape.
The UN Security Council has asked for real progress by the end of the month.

Soudan: accord en passe d'etre signe

Le Soudan et l'ONU vont signer lundi un accord sur des mesures que doit prendre Khartoum au mois d'aout pour desarmer
les milices arabes et resoudre la crise humanitaire, a rapporte l'ONU.
Le "Plan d'action pour le Darfour", objet d'un accord de principe mercredi, prevoit notamment l'arret de toutes le operations militaires dans des zones de securite qui devraient notamment etre etablies dans des camps de refugies
Des observateurs militaires de l'Union africaine surveilleront le processus. Par ailleurs, le gouvernement soudanais s'est dit pret a reprendre les negociations avec les rebelles du Darfour.

Khartoum 'behind Darfur killings'

The United Nations investigator on executions has blamed Sudan's government for extra-judicial killings in the western region of Darfur."The government of the Sudan is responsible for... summary executions of large numbers of people," Asma Jahangir said in a report.
The killings amounted to crimes agains humanity, she added and "millions of civilians" were at risk. The report comes after the Sudan and the UN agreed a crisis plan.

France calls for help over Darfur (ENG)

France has appealed for greater international involvement to help refugees from Sudan's Darfur region. The French defence minister after visiting camps for Sudanese refugees in Chad said more needed to be done. The US has approved $30m in emergency food aid for Darfur, where more than two million people are expected to nee emergency food supplies by October. Meanwhile, the United Nations says that the Sudanese cabinet has approved an action plan to ease the crisis

Afrique du Sud: une fusion historique
Congresul National African, ANC, Noul Partid National, NPP

L'Histoire va vite en Afrique du Sud et l'actualite d'aujourd'hui aurait eu hier des allures de science fiction: le Nouveau parti national (NPP), celui de l'apartheid au pouvoir de 1948 a 1994, a annonce sa fusion avec l'ANC.
Le leader du NPP, M.van Schalkwyk, ministre de l'Environnement, a declare qu'il allait lui-meme devenir membre du Congres national (ANC) de Thabo Mbeki et de Nelson Mandela, le premier presi dent noir du pays de 1994 a 1999.
Le NPP n'a obtenu que 1,65% des voix e avril. Le premier parti d'opposition (DA-droite liberale) a remporte pres de 13% des voix face aux 69,68% de l'ANC.

SA apartheid party 'to join ANC

The party that legalised apartheid in South Africa has paved the way for its own extinction.
The New National Party says it will fight future elections under the banner of the party that sought to abolish it the African National Congress.
As the National Party it introduced the policy of apartheid after it came to power in 1948, denying black South Africans the right to vote. Now it says it will urge all of its supporters to take out ANC membership.

Fiica liderului zulu a murit de SIDA (ENG)

Aids kills Zulu leader's daughter Veteran South African politician Mangosuthu Buthelezi has been to the funeral of his daughter ` revealing she was his second child to die from Aids. The leader of the Zulu-dominated Inkatha Freedom Party said he felt"despair and hopelessness" at the death
of 48-year-old Mandisi Sibukakone.
She died on Thursday, months after her 53-year-old brother Prince. Mr Buthelezi said at his daughter's funeral that South Africa should do more to tackle HIV/Aids.

Organizatia ONU pentru Alimentatie si Agricultura a anuntat ca invazia de lacuste a acoperit o suprafata din Africa echivalenta aproximativ cu suprafata SUA. Lacustele, care s-au inmultit in tari din Africa de nord-vest, ajung aucum in state din vest precum Mauritania, Senegal, Mali si Niger. FAO precizeaza ca agricultorii au incetat sa mai semene pamantul de teama lacustelor, transmite BBC.
